There is something special about planning a wedding in Savannah, GA.

Maybe it’s the Spanish moss, the river views, or the historic architecture or a combination of all. As wedding planners at Elegant Savannah Weddings, we adore when our couples choose to celebrate their love in Savannah. Your guests aren’t simply attending a wedding—they’re embarking on an unforgettable adventure in one of the South’s most beautiful and historic cities.

That is especially true when the wedding takes place at The Thompson Hotel.

Tucked along the Savannah River in Eastern Wharf, The Thompson Hotel gives couples a beautiful, modern home base while still putting guests close to everything they came to Savannah to experience. The hotel offers a riverside lawn, an art-deco-inspired Sunroom that can be transformed into an elegant ceremony and reception space, and Bar Julian rooftop, which means there are plenty of options for creating a wedding weekend that feels polished, personal, and most importantly distinctly Savannah.

One of the first things we tell our couples is this give your guests something to look forward to. A wedding weekend should have breathing room. There should be time to grab coffee, explore, wander, eat something delicious, and maybe discover a favorite Savannah cocktail before everyone gathers for the main event. Even though Sam & Joe are now locals of the Savannah area, they wanted their guests to experience everything that Savannah has to offer. The Thompson Savannah Hotel made that easy and possible.

Guests were able to start the morning with a walk along the river, some even spent some time by the hotel pool enjoying the SouthEast GA weather still in it's "Summer Era", while others headed into the Historic District for a little sightseeing. And for those who preferred not to venture far, Bar Julian was right upstairs, offering panoramic views of the Savannah River and skyline.

While guests were enjoying the sights and delicious food Savannah offers, The Elegant Savannah Wedding team got right to work with executing Sam & Joe's vision for their wedding day. This is one of our favorite parts of wedding planning—the moment when all the moving pieces start coming together. As the Chic and Co Studio team was working on Hair and Make up, Sabrina Jolie Photography & her team as well as Isabella from The Modern I Do were buzzing around capturing the memories that were being made that morning.

From intimate first looks to romantic couple’s portraits and beautiful pre-ceremony photographs, the city’s charming streets, historic architecture, and timeless Southern beauty create the perfect backdrop for capturing memories that will last a lifetime that a majority of our couples like to take advantage of. Sam & Joe chose Elite Savannah Travel to provide their transportation, allowing them to relax, enjoy the journey, and take in the beauty of Savannah along the way. From one picturesque location to the next, their transportation became more than simply getting from place to place—it was part of the experience and a beautiful way to embrace all the beauty of Savannah.

Sam & Joe made the wonderful decision to host their entire wedding celebration in the stunning Sunroom at The Thompson, a beautiful and sophisticated setting that provided the perfect backdrop for their special day.

Macy of Belle Events Co. transformed the space with elegant draping and provided the timeless gold Chiavari chairs, adding that elevated touch to the overall design. EventWorks complemented the tablescape with beautiful linens and chargers, creating an atmosphere of effortless sophistication.

Bringing everything together, Heidi of A to Zinnias worked her floral magic, filling the space with exquisite blooms that beautifully complemented the wedding’s elegant aesthetic. Every floral detail added warmth, romance, and a touch of natural beauty to the Sunroom.

The ceremony began with the beautiful sounds of JL Music, whose talented trio of violin, cello, and viola created an enchanting musical backdrop as Sam & Joe began their journey as husband and wife.

From the thoughtfully designed details to the beautiful music and breathtaking florals, every element came together to create a wedding celebration that was both timeless and uniquely Sam & Joe.

After theThompson's banquet team served the elegant and delicious dinner, Sam & Joe decided it was time to DANCE! AND DANCE THEY DID!

And DANCED....

AND DANCED the night away! Sam & Joe's motto was "Be Louder than all the other music happening around us!" And boy did DJ Blaine from I Need A Beat understand the assignment!

These two lovebirds ended their wedding reception celebration by having a sweet treat from Leopold's Ice Cream. We wish Sam and Joe nothing but a lifetime full of happiness and adventure!
